Dogs in Rehabilitation
These very special pups are currently receiving the medical care they need before becoming available for adoption.
These dogs are safe with K9 Kismet Dog Rescue and surrounded by people who are committed to their healing. While they are not yet ready for adoption, we are actively addressing their medical needs and giving them the time and support they deserve.
We will continue to share updates as their journeys unfold. If you would like to learn more about either dog or support their care, please contact us at info@k9kismet.org.

Meet Howie
An old man swagger powered by snacks and friendship
At 13 years old, Howie has life pretty well figured out. His favorite things include car rides, leisurely walks around the neighborhood, playtime with friends (both human and dog), strategic naps, and making absolutely sure every human he meets stops to say hello to him.
He has the energy of a lovable old regular at a neighborhood diner who knows everyone by name and somehow always convinces people to share their fries.
Howie was originally adopted as a puppy back in 2013, but earlier this year he found himself back at a shelter after being picked up as a stray in Long Beach. Thanks to a whole lot of love and support from his village, Howie received much-needed medical care and quickly reminded everyone that while he may move a little slower these days, his spirit is still full of joy.
His Rehabilitation Journey
Support Howie’s Journey
Right now, Howie is still a work in progress as we continue evaluating his medical needs and figuring out what support will help him feel his best. X-rays show some spinal compression which explains his adorable little “old man swagger,” but despite the creaky moments, Howie still lights up for adventures, gets excited for playtime, and never says no to a car ride or a snack.
For now, we’re focused on giving Howie comfort, love, and all the quality time with friends he deserves while we continue learning more about what his future care will look like.

Meet Buttons
A Second Chance
At just six weeks old, Buttons was brought to a veterinary clinic with a heartbreaking request: euthanasia. Her back legs were not functioning properly, making her “unfit for sale.”
A compassionate advocate at the clinic refused to let her story end there. With the support of rescue partners and a foster stepping forward, Buttons was given the second chance she deserved, and K9 Kismet was honored to welcome her into our care.

Her Journey
Loved and Supported
Buttons may not move like other puppies. Her back legs do not carry her, and they may never. But what she lacks in mobility, she more than makes up for in joy and resilience. She wiggles. She snuggles. She shines in every way that matters.
She is now safe and receiving the specialized medical care she needs. We do not yet know what her future holds, but we do know this: she will be loved, she will be cared for, and she will never be valued by a price tag again.
