The little rescue with a big heart

Our primary mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving, permanent homes for homeless dogs, specifically dogs in shelters at-risk of euthanasia and dogs whose owners can no longer care for them. We believe in compassionate rescue when the dog is enduring inhumane living conditions or likely to be deemed less adoptable due to age, health, emotional state, or breed. We ensure that all the dogs we take into our rescue, regardless of individual needs, are cared for with love and compassion for the duration of their lives.

Clipper-turned-Copper-turned-Cooper is officially home! He may be a man of many names, but all that matters is that he was able to land one solid home. Thanks to the networking efforts of the fine volunteers at Baldwin Park Animal Shelter and our foster partners on The Dank Dog Ranch, Cooper was able to say goodbye to fifteen long months in the shelter system, most of which had him tucked away as “evidence” for a court case. He’s now enjoying the perks of being an indoor pet alongside a retired couple who absolutely adores him and his new six-year-old terrier brother. To sweeten the deal, Cooper doesn’t risk ever running out of smells because he’s now receiving his mail on a six-acre ranch at the end of a private road.

Unfortunately, we don’t always get happy endings in our overcrowded shelter system, but it’s important to celebrate the ones we can save. After being threatened with euthanasia, we were able to extend a lifeline to Cooper (FKA Clipper #A5512829 & #K9KismetCopper) because an AMAZING foster stepped forward. #kismetdankdogcollab

If you’re inspired to help us be a part of the solution and fulfill our mission to dogs in need, apply to foster or make a tax deductible donation today! As a foster-based nonprofit rescue that is 100% volunteer-run, we can’t do what we do without the support of members of the public like you.

K9 Kismet Dog Rescue

In honor of National Volunteer Week, a big thank you goes out to all the volunteers—past and present—who have helped keep this ship afloat. The work we do is far from easy, and, as a 100% volunteer-run organization, we rely on like-minded people who are willing to run towards the fire instead of away from it. You are the helpers in times of crisis and we are deeply grateful.

If you want to help us make a difference in the lives of at-risk dogs, submit your interest through our website at www.k9kismet.org/volunteer or www.k9kismet.org/foster.

Amazing human beings

As a year-long City of Long Beach Animal Care Services alum (intake 12/2022), we happen to know all about this beautiful lady. Please share this post so Clarissa can finally get the forever home she deserves. When you adopt from Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue, you’ll be covered on medical expenses for the life of the dog❣️

Thulani dog Clarissa is ready for her forever home! Her mass removal surgery was successful and she is recovering well with her foster mom in Southern California. Clarissa is friendly and affectionate, great with kids, and good with other dogs. This gorgeous 8 year old girl will make the “pawfect” addition to your family!

Foster

As a foster-based rescue, our primary need is short and long-term fosters. Fostering costs you nothing; we cover all expenses. Whether you’re a seasoned foster who can handle some of our toughest cases, or a first-timer looking to ease into the process, we want to hear from you.

Adopt

By providing a forever home for a dog in rescue, you're helping to free up a foster home, which allows us to help another dog in need. The dogs in our care are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered (unless medically waived), microchipped, and receive regular wellness exams, preventative treatment, specialty care as needed. If you’re interested in meeting a K9 Kismet pack member, please fill out the adoption application to begin the process.

donate

As a 100% volunteer-run organization, your tax-deductible donation goes directly to the dogs in our care. It provides funds for everything from life saving surgeries to ID tags. Every dollar has purpose and is put to work for the dogs we serve. Help us say yes to the next dog in need.
