The little rescue with a big heart
Our primary mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving, permanent homes for homeless dogs, specifically dogs in shelters at-risk of euthanasia and dogs whose owners can no longer care for them. We believe in compassionate rescue when the dog is enduring inhumane living conditions or likely to be deemed less adoptable due to age, health, emotional state, or breed. We ensure that all the dogs we take into our rescue, regardless of individual needs, are cared for with love and compassion for the duration of their lives.

Our resident love bug Ivy is still looking for a foster. This incredibly affectionate girl hasn’t met a human she doesn’t love. Seriously, she loves all of them! Ivy is house-trained, crate-trained, and good on leash. She is smart, cuddly, and eager to please. Ivy is still learning to be confident and comfortable around other dogs, so (for now anyway) we believe she would do best as a only dog or paired with a calm, older dog about her size. No cats, please. Back story: Ivy first came to our rescue during the summer of 2022 as a two-year-old mama pup with seven nine-week-old pups. They all lived outdoors in someone’s backyard—hot, dirty, and flea-infested. We addressed her medical needs and would go on to find her a wonderful home. Unfortunately, Ivy’s world was turned upside down in March of 2024 when her adoptive mom unexpectedly passed away. Once a K9 Kismet dog, always a K9 Kismet dog, so we jumped into action to bring her back into the fold. We knew she’d need a safe place where she could begin to heal (and fast) so we enrolled her in a trusted board-and-train facility; but boarding is not a long term solution, and Ivy is more than ready to get back into a home. If you live in Long Beach, California, or its surrounding cities, and have space in your heart and home for our resident love bug, please apply to foster today! www.k9kismet.org/foster/foster-application As a reminder, fostering for K9 Kismet costs you nothing because we cover ALL expenses. That includes training sessions with Ivy’s amazing trainer, Robert Villaneda! Can’t foster but still want to help? Share this post, tell a friend, or consider making a tax-deductible donation to help us with Ivy’s boarding and care. Adopt
By providing a forever home for a dog in rescue, you're helping to free up a foster home, which allows us to help another dog in need. The dogs in our care are fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered (unless medically waived), microchipped, and receive regular wellness exams, preventative treatment, specialty care as needed. If you’re interested in meeting a K9 Kismet pack member, please fill out the adoption application to begin the process.
